Connected to a landscape of wind, silence, birds, tides, and horizons. A region of not only ecological value but also human value. A place where nature, culture, history, work, tourism, and daily life have converged for generations.

We believe the Wadden are not merely a backdrop. The Wadden are alive. And those who live, work, or are moved by this landscape share a responsibility for it.

Wij zijn de Wadden' (We Are the Wadden) unites islanders, residents, entrepreneurs, artists, visitors, and enthusiasts of the Wadden region. Not out of division, but out of commitment. Not out of fear, but out of love for what must be preserved. And out of pride—because we feel how special it is to live, reside, and work here. Together, we are 'Wij zijn de Wadden'.

We believe in a future where experiencing nature, livability, local entrepreneurship, and respect for the landscape go hand in hand. Closing off areas does not create protection. It creates distance. And distance breeds indifference.

That is why we are building a movement that reveals the beauty and significance of the Wadden region. Through stories, imagery, education, art, dialogue, entrepreneurship, and the experience of nature.

At the same time, we believe that decisive action is sometimes necessary. That is why campaigns, petitions, and action groups can be part of this movement. Not as an end in themselves, but as a means to stand up for the region to which we feel a deep connection.
